The state of the Chaz, ongoing
I am just saying - and not grumbling in any way whatsoever, because this was all about care and detail and making sure - but I spent an hour and three-quarters in a dental chair today. Mostly over one tooth, the fate of which is not yet decided.
In other news, you-all have a lot to answer for. Steampunk Mars it is. My map of the Red Planet is on its way, to be adorned with canals and cities and so forth; my SETI expert is on hand, on tap and duly primed (he's a planetary geologist with a special interest in Mars, and I was deeply disappointed to discover that they don't call themselves areologists, nor see any reason why they should); my colleague is poised to share primary sources and exchange notes.
Right now, though, I am going back to fiddling with Dispossession. Mostly I am proofreading and typesetting (in so far as "typesetting" means "changing underlines to italics", along with a couple of more minor display twiddles), but I am technically changing enough to make this a new edition. Essentially, that means I'm swapping out some of the semicolons for full stops, and stamping on one or two flights of fanciful syntax that actually obscure the meaning, however much fun they might be in and of themselves. Just one or two.
[EtA: also, deleting a lot of ellipses. A lot.]
