It may not seem likely on the face of it, but apparently when in doubt and stress, the modern Englishman cleans the kitchen. (People are coming! Guests! Also, time is a leaky sponge between my fingers, so I might as well make use of it in a way I'm actually capable of.)
At nine o'clock I thought my boxes were actually here, an hour early. There was a big green moving van out of San Jose, backing and filling and beeping merrily right outside the house, it had to be them. Only then they went away. So I am of course convinced that indeed that was them, and they tiptoed up to the door and tapped lightly and ran immediately away, so that they can return to base and say "Nah, he wasn't in." Because of course that's what they'd do.
Maybe I need more coffee?
