Three pages this morning: one before coffee, two in the Lit & Phil.

Weather: sunshine, freezing rain and hail. The latter two, of course, mostly on me as I trudged to and fro. *is wet* *and cold*

My poor Barry's insides have turned to liquid, and he didn't want his breckfuss. So he's on strict water rations for twenty-four hours; this is Route One, go for a hard reboot and see what happens. If he's no better by tomorrow we'll go and see his friends the vets and his idolising fan/worshippers the nurses (Everybody Loves Barry. It's a rule).

Me, I am not on water rations, no. I can has a sammich. Pork-and-apple meatloaf on granary with mayonnaise, mustard and sauerkraut, and a pickle on the side. What am I missing...?

For as long as you have sauerkraut and a pickle, you can't possibly be missing anything.

A cookie.

A gallon of hot tea, and a warmed pain au chocolat for dessert.

Me?

Ah, but if you were here I would not haz a sammich, and neither would you. I am constitutionally incapable of catering so simply for someone else.

3 pages good. Food, however, is still just food (runs away and hides from Wrath of Foodie).
Please tell Daniel that I am really loving his book, btw.

How, how has the marquis lived with you, all these years...?

Daniel looks gulpy and anxious, by the way, and asks if you are likely actually to mean that. I tell him yes, but you know what these neurotic writers are like. Neurotic Writer is Neurotic. Sigh...

The marquis assures me I have other features that compensate for that shortcoming.
Daniel really shouldn't worry. It's a super book: I love the setting, the atmosphere and the characters (particularly Han). And I can think of a number of people I will want to give it to as a gift, too.

Hee. I too love Han. (It's always interesting, who people feel a special affection for; my own last book, the readership divided between Jendre-fans and Issel-fans. "Readership" in this case including agents and editors, which made things awkward at rewrite stage...)

And you are right, it would make a splendid gift: if only it were out for gift-giving season, rather than a month later! It'll just have to be people's birthday presents, I guess...

I don't know, but I need your pork and apple meatloaf recipe.
