Sometimes it's good to get cancelled

I should've been in Sunderland by now, reading through Bryan Talbot's latest (I am Bryan's offishul prufe reeder, which - despite ironic misspellings - is a thrill almost beyond measure; I love getting to see these things in the making, and even having a teeny-tiny input into them).

But he's adding a couple of last-minute pages, so it isn't quite ready yet; which is actually nothing but relief to me, despite I've been looking forward to this for weeks. For I am full of plague, and quite revolting. Not quite ill enough to cancel on my own behalf, but very glad to find myself cancelled. I really did not want to go out of the house today, and now I don't have to.

So: as "I didn't go to Sunderland today" is not much of a post, here's a picture or two. Ah, how they help me, these boys...

...And now, because I barely slept an hour last night - what with my own plague-ridden restlessness, and Mac's need to be snuggling, and Barry's snoring - I am going to declare an early end to this wretched struggle-to-work, and read book instead. Book good. Alas, I am out of lemons (on account of not having been out of the house today, on account of being sick, which is why I need lemons), but still. Book good.

And as a comment on lemons: http://twolumps.net/d/20090204.html

Hee.

Cute boys!

What handsome fellows. Are there cats in snow pictures to be had yet?

[identity profile] desperance.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Alas, those didn't happen. My fault. Next time we get snow, I promise - but today it seems to be everywhere else but not here.

Thank you! What is the name of Mr. Strippey, and what is the name of Mr. Solid Black And Cute With It?

Oh yes - sorry to hear about your lemonless plague.

[identity profile] desperance.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Mac is the tabby, and Barry is black.

[identity profile] agoodwinsmith.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. I quite like Mac's frowny face with the splayed front feet on the paper - a manuscript he is helping with, do doubt. :)

'Zackly. I love that pic. (Just what I needed: an editor in-house. Sigh...)

Wow. The plot of Grandville sounds extremely mouth-watering. Now, you've gone and made me look forward to October. Did I need that? Doesn't time fly fast enough without being encouraged to speed up?

Obviously, should Bryan need any help with proofreading sporadic French bits which might speckle and dot the story for local colour, I'm more than willing to lend a hand.

[identity profile] desperance.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you; I shall pass that on...

(And don't lay too much store by that October date - he was running a wee bit late even before the extra pages came along. Cape may hustle to make sure it's out on time, but - well, you know publishers. It may slip a little.)

Go away, plague!

Also?

Awwww, the kewt kittehs!

I keep several sliced lemons and limes in my freezer. Good for both emergency G&Ts and emergency hot toddies.

Ooh, now. That is such a good idea...

The look on Barry's face in the third one is priceless.

Also, I can't sustain the LOLspeak for a complete sentence, but Mac is obviously Editor Kitteh, shocked by your comma abuse.

Isn't he, though? Needs one of those little green eye-shades that newspaper eds used to wear, for whatever weird reason newspaper eds used to wear little green eyeshades...

He looks such a kitten still in that shot.

*Wishes you lemons*.

[identity profile] desperance.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Permanent adolescent, alas. I keep telling him to grow up; and he just rolls on his back and goes "but I'm so kyoooot...!" Which is of course true. Unless you're Barry, who doesn't find him cute at all.

*has lemons!*

Heee, I love the ears-back pose in Mac's first pic. In this house that usually heralds manic circumnavigating of the room without touching the floor, or possibly to killing the stairs dead.

Also, I see that Lucy/Barry has been jaunting again.

Now, proof-reader to Bryan Talbot sounds like one of those jobs that's too ultra-cool to even exist in a universe as reasonably ordinary as ours. I am furiously jealous. All the more so since I've been looking forward to Grandville since he showed us some pages from it all the way back in September 2007.

[identity profile] desperance.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, and also snigger.

So glad you're safely out of hospital, in order to be made properly jealous...
