I'm a stranger here myself

These boys swear they haven't the least idea who I am. They are vaguely aware that they used to live with someone, but he went away and left them ages back; and me, I'm just this stranger who's turned up out of the blue. Having been sniffed carefully all over, I am now being Stared At from across the room. Quite coldly.

Or in other words, I went to Sunderland yesterday and stayed overnight with Bryan & Mary Talbot. Food may have been eaten; wine may have been drunk. I stayed for lunch today, and may have peeled a butternut squash.

One thing for sure, I've read Grandville and you haven't. It's good, being Bryan's official proofreader; I get to smug. *smugs*

They'll remember you when you feed them. Mind you, they'll likely go back to forgetting soon after, but at least you'll regain a little credit with them.

I'm insanely jealous of your advanced preview of Grandville. Will there be a [livejournal.com profile] desperance appearance in it, or was AiS a one-time event?

I'm not in this one. But my name is! Heh...

And let that be a lesson to you - abandoning them like that.

'Zackly. And they ain't seen nuthin' yet. This was just an overnight; next weekend I'm in Dublin. Three nights! (See you there?)

I'll be there - looking forward to meeting you in person.

Oh, just wait till they get really annoyed and stop eating ... mine do not know that they are about to miss me for a few weekends in a row.

[identity profile] desperance.livejournal.com 2009-03-22 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, now you come to mention it, I too am absent for successive weekends. Eek.

(Weirdly, they both refused to eat when they first arrived - separately, a year apart - to the point where I had each of them to the vet in high anxiety. Having once got over that, I haven't been able to stop them eating since. Their food, my food, anything remotely interpretable as food and some things that aren't. As has been noted, often, in this blog...)

Yep -- love those visits to the vet that end up with lots of tests and a resulting, "who knows? try getting home at a decent hour for a couple of weeks!"

And finding that yes, the spending quality time actually works ...

Smug away as much as you like. I despise you. *glowers in an unkind and sustained fashion*
