State of the Chaz

desperanceWoke up today with a headache, much like yesterday; which - much like yesterday - I appear to plan to carry through to bedtime. Otherwise, am loads better than I was twenty-four hours ago: viz, I am not lying supine on the sofa, draped beneath a cat, feeling dizzy and detached and utterly unwell.
Rather, I am cooking curry: because lamb, and Mark is coming for dinner. Mark lives in Newcastle, where he is married to one of my oldest friends; but his company is headquartered in Sunnyvale, as are we, so.
This curry is based rather haphazardly on a nostalgia for a recipe that I followed once, from a beautiful book that I distinctly remember owning but have never seen since the one and only time I cooked this (and cannot find in the internets because I persist in believing it was a book of Indian recipes by Ken Hom, who appears never to have written such a book). Anyway, it is a lamb curry with a green sauce of coriander/cilantro and mint, and I am pretty much making it up.
In other news, there will be okra. And I ought to make some dal, because I love dal. And rice. And raita.
In the meantime, don't forget my pi story is up on Splinter Universe; there's a new intro page and everything, because every story has its origin story. And never forget that you can donate $3.14, and feel very pleased with yourself for all manner of reasons.
