Well, that has rearranged my day

I was supposed to be finishing a story today, for an anthology that closed to subs two days ago (I got an extension) - but I was out early with the coffee club when Karen texted to say my sister had messaged to say my mum was in hospital. They're calling it a small stroke, and they say she should be good to go home in a couple of days, but... Yeah. She's ninety-three. And five thousand miles away.

I think I'm going for a walk.

I've been offline lately and missed this. Best wishes for your mother, and gentle comfort for you; it's hard being far away at such times. (I'm only 3000 miles from my family, but I feel the distance.)

Thanks. It ain't easy, is it? (I am of course completely confident that 3000 miles is only 3/5ths as difficult as 5K. That's science!)

Mum's doing extraordinarily well, on account of being my extraordinary mother. Should be home by now, if all has gone well over there.
