Oh, damn

So I spent all weekend working on my new chapter, when I wasn't making chutney; and I wrote half a dozen pages of what was Deep and Grim and Meaningful, Compacted of Pure Thought and Insight.

And this morning it occurred to me that there was a whole nother way to cover the same territory and bring me to the same place, which would be - well, not exactly light and airy, but there would be action! and dialogue! and readers could pick stuff up on the hoof, which is a goodness, rather than having it dumped like a dead slab on their plate! (have I mixed that metaphor, or simply crossed my wires...?)

Whatever. I hate tearing up pages in mid-draft, but, yup. Go back and do it again. Sigh. I'm going for a walk.

Also, forgot to mention, I have ten jars of chutney that need good homes.

Also, if Mac doesn't stop playing with my fingers as I type, that'll be ten jars of chutney and a cat.

Couple of quick review links, because I know you're desperate to read every word written about Me:

courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] shewhomust, here's a review of the Outremer series - many spoilers, I guess, and not so much more, it's mostly a plot-summary with a general air of "I liked this" ("Chaz Brenchley’s Outremer series is an exciting read set in a fascinating world based on the Crusades. Religious war, clashes of cultures and intervening spirit creatures mix into an in depth story of dark, gritty action. Characters pursue peace in a world torn by many problems. The author provides readers with an action packed story that leaves readers thinking after the series is finished.")

"Action-packed". Hee. Take that, all those who said these books were slow! I smite you with, um, somebody else's opinion!

Also, from [livejournal.com profile] lastshortstory, a brief review of my story "Summer's Lease" from Postscripts #10:

"a quiet, repressed and very British (Evelyn Waugh kind of British, dahling) romance with a supernatural edge. The characters were sympathetic if also self-absorbed and generally fucked up, and the writing was just lovely. This story was the gem of the Postscripts collection"

I like when people like what I do. It makes me feel sooo much better.

*goes off to do more of what he does*
