Here I sit with my toddy of hot
May. 13th, 2010 06:03 pmCan't remember any of the things I've been meaning to post, because my brain has dissolved into goo and is running out through ... no, never mind.
So instead, random stuffs:
Last night's gig? Was lovely. China is scary-smart, but we knew that; Helen is a total star, so I was outshone in all directions, as I ought to be. China tried to inveigle me into going to Melbourne for WorldCon. I must remember to make my hopeless application for funding, just so I can say I did try...
Lunch? I think I've mentioned this before, but my devilled kidney-and-mushrooms on toast is just the best lunch ever. I could eat it and eat it. Also in an hour or two I shall have one of the best teas ever (rice fried with onions and garlic and chillies and bacon and greens, topped with a couple of fried eggs), which I could eat it and eat it. I have a cold; I'm allowed.
Talking of which: cold medicines. Morrison's sells both kinds: country and western. Or in this case, cold relief capsules and Non-Drowsy Decongestant. Both its own brand, both 16 capsules to the box. One costs 68p, the other is £1.09. The medicine? Is exactly the same. Same ingredients, same proportions. I am shocked, I tell you. Shocked. [Actually? I am. Do people not notice?]
Meanwhile, the notion has arisen that I might write some horror novels for an old favourite editor of mine in a new post. Not much money, but I could do 'em quick under yet-another-pseudonym. But would it be fun? Do I want to be a horror novelist again, or can I/should I subsume what I used to do in horror into the new urban fantasy persona? I dunno. I'm not exactly conflicted so much as uncertain...
Meanmeanwhile, kittens do slidey. "Mom! Halp...!"
Meanmeanmeanwhile, my own motherless boys have had their tea and are now Galloping About Doing Good. Because that is the kind of cat they are.
Oh! And! We have a first-draft cover for Hidden Cities by Daniel Fox. And it's gorgeous, and I can't post it yet, sorry...
