My other --- is a ---
Jan. 19th, 2008 11:03 amI want a bumper-sticker for my backpack, that says "My other office is the basement of a haunted library..."
For yes: this post is coming to you direct from the Silence Room of the Lit & Phil. Technically I'm breaking the rules (not that laptops are forbidden in here, they're not; sockets are even supplied, for the power-deficient among you; but only in the first two bays on the right. Elsewhere in here, the sign says, please don't use. Huh? It's incomprehensible. My tapping at this table is no more noisy or disturbing than someone tapping over there at that table. So I'm ignoring the rules. Publicly. Internationally, even.
Irritatingly, I now want to look up the spelling of 'publicly', because so many people use 'publically' I'm starting to wonder if it's considered a legitimate alternative, at least in the US - but all the contemporary dictionaries are upstairs, and I'm not going to leave a Vaio unwatched, even in here, but I'd feel silly wandering the hallways with it tucked protectively under my arm...
Anyway, enough of this posting-because-I-can; I am here to work. Not, technically, on the laptop. You will be amazed to hear, I have a typescript in the bag and I'm revising it. Sigh...
