I have lost my dressing. This is not altogether a surprise - I was in an eye ward for reasons of available space, and the nurses kept saying "I'm an eye nurse, not a plastics nurse! How do you do thumbs?" - but I did at least hope I could keep it on till tomorrow, when I have to go back to, um, have my dressing changed...

(No, I can't jam it back on again; when I say "lost", I do actually mean lost. I looked down and there was my thumb, naked and exposed. The dressing I cannot find. I blame, obviously, the boys.)

I would recommend going to the nearest chemist and buying gauze and so forth -- you can get tubi-grip shaped for thumbs.

Tubi-grip, hmm? That sounds wise to me. I do actually have gauze and so forth, the nurses sent me away with all the makin's - but, of course, it needs two hands to put it all together. Preferably someone else's. Tubi-grip, tho'...
