...which I'm not allowed to mention. Damn.

But! First of the year! (Sheesh, what have I been doing, all these eight days...?)

Back to the read-through. Soon as I can work up the impertinence to cast Barry from my knee. He does have a perfect sense of bad timing: constantly privileges me just when I'm about ready to move. So I either have to sit here longer or else discourage him. Guess which way that works out?

Meanwhile, Mac has been sniffing jade-dust. You don't know what this means yet, not having read Dragon in Chains yet, but it's that time of the night: all cats run mad at six o'clock (can this be because all cats get fed around six o'clock?). Vrooom! says Mac. Hah, says Chaz. Jade, says Chaz. That's what it does...

Having put Dragon in Chgains into my shopping basket on a promise that it could be pre-ordered, Amazon now say:

Dragon in Chains (Paperback)
by Daniel Fox (Author)
Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

Any idea when it will be available?

We call 5-6 p.m. "the bratting hour" for the doglet.

And sale congrats.

Ack ick yuck! God knows what's going on with them: some problem about pre-orders, they say. The publishers are trying to pursue them, but across continents it ain't easy...

Presumably they will recognise their error once the book actually exists; we hope to convince them before that. Hold your horses, I think, for now...

Oddly enough, if I am out canvassing, all cats are Liberal Democrats at 6 p.m., I suspect for similar food-related reasons.

Congratulations on your skeerit sale.

The dogs here run mad in the morning. At six, they spin and leap in circles. It's quite the show.

Congratulations!

I got 'unavailable' on Dragon in CHains, too, but the release date is soon--assuming 27 Jan is accurate.

Aaargh! This is so infuriating...! (It was fine up to a week ago, taking pre-orders without a blink; and now suddenly can't be done, not known at this address, return to sender, no such book... Snarl!)

As far as we know, 27 Jan is still the date. But we now, of course, have no confidence in Amazon's ability to meet it. Sob.

Don't worry--Amazon is a crazy-making machine, but it's probably just a failure in their pre-order system. Hopefully it will resolve when the release date comes round. THey couldn't stay in business if they couldn't get books to customers!

I'll track it down even if I have to go into an actual shop and order it (gasp)!

Congratulations on the sale of unmentionableness!

I have only one cat and rather than running wild at six o' clock, she's usually indolently lounging in the airing cupboard, waiting for the clank of fork against cat food tin.
