I am mighty. Ish.

Also, I am wet. And not quite hysterical.

Luckily, I am used to nothing ever being as good as one had hoped; I am a writer.

I made it move, the thing, I did. I shifted it.

I turned it and turned it, and there was a great spurting of water in all directions, and it came apart in my hands.

Unfortunately, I mean that all too literally. It came, indeed, into three parts: one of which was attached to the wall; one was in my hand; one little bit fell and was lost in all the snow & ice & water on the ground.

I assumed that little bit was crucial, and was terribly organised, shifting chunks of ice around until I found it.

And figured out where the new washer ought to go - there wasn't even a semblance of an old washer to act as hint or guidance; I guess it must have disintegrated entirely, which would be why the tap was gushing quite so badly - and fitted the new one and pieced the pieces back together and tried to screw the whole assemblage back into the tap.

And tried, and tried again. And got drenched, and froze, and came inside to warm my hands in the sink, and tried again.

And, eventually, succeeded. And tightened everything to the max, and y'know what?

It's still bloody dribbling.

I am wondering actually if there mightn't still be a shard of old washer in there somewhere, preventing a proper seal from forming. But I am not, not taking it apart again to investigate. Not till the weather warms up, at any rate.

Current theory says that I'll attach a hose to the tap and stick the other end in the drain and just let it dribble. My pipes inside have stopped roaring, which is the most significant factor right now. I think I can call that wiktory...?
