A near thing
Nov. 19th, 2013 01:46 pmI so nearly had a major retail accident this morning. I just happened to pass through Macy's, in mid-sale fervour; and they have a six-quart enamelled cast-iron casserole for fifty bucks, today only. It's very lovely, and very cheap (commonly $150).
What held me back, you ask? I have a large enamel cast-iron casserole already. Not quite that large, but it's always been large enough; and I've had it thirty years or more and love it dearly; and I absolutely do not need another, a second, a larger. Really, I don't. I just want it, and it's a bargain, and both of those are hard to resist individually, never mind when they unite.
Still. I am apparently stronger than you think; the dish is still in the store, and I haven't even been back for a second look despite hanging out all day in the coffeeship nearby.
