Katherine and Dave were round for lunch-of-leftovers; and after lunch, while Dave did his homework in the clubhouse, Katherine helped me sort and organise All The Cookbooks. That's 650 volumes, people: now organised by region or style or ingredient or author, depending. The task is not finished - there should probably be alphabetising too, or other organisation-within-categories - but I can now pretty much expect to find any book I'm looking for. This is beyond wonderful, after the last long year of wishing I had done this already (which turns out to be not the same thing at all).
And now I am cooking dinner: which in the traditional pursuit of all-things-leftover will be turkey and mushroom risotto. With red cabbage on the side, by special request of m'wife.
