So that was Jeannie's fault, and not really how I'd planned to spend my afternoon - but if it's still up, you too can watch Bryn Terfel singing a role he must've been born for, in the New York Phil's concert performance of Sweeney Todd. With Emma Thompson, and the cutest Toby I ever did see. And Sondheim in the audience, inevitably, to be dragged up on stage at the end. As I may have commented elsewhere, I don't know if Sondheim wrote the part for a whistler, but they used Bryn's ability to whistle immaculately; and he even curls his lip in tune. It's perfect.
