It may be that I chose the wrong profession

I still resent criticism and still flinch away from rejection, even forty years on. These are not characteristics consonant with success in my field.

A week ago, I thought I had my mojo back, though it was long away. Now I've had two rejections in three days, my trifecta has become a unifecta, and I am downcast in that dreadful dreary "Of course they were right, the stories were crap, what did I think would happen?" kind of way that saturates my bones.

Happily I have a couple of days' work left on a BVC copy-edit, before I have to face any notion of doing my own work again.
