Okay, folks: someone out there (and no, I can't remember who, which is why this is a general post) was asking some weeks back, about which was the best book for birding with in the States. If it's still a current question, I have a definitive answer for you: the Sibley Field Guides, in two vols, for Birds of Eastern/Western North America.
