Um, that punctuation mark I deleted so boldly this morning?

Just put it back.

Can I rest now?

Clearly, you have put your creativity to good use today. You can read a book now.

It depends on what the punctuation was. If it was a period, question mark, or exclamation point, then no--those are easy.

If it was a comma or semicolon, it probably involved some serious thinking, so you deserve a break.

It was a dash - an em-dash, since you ask - that I used in my cavalier English way to compel a hiatus, to embrace a divagation, to act as a parenthesis. And changed my mind. Twice. All my punctuation is deeply considered.
