I know you're not actually listening, so never mind; but it would be awfully nice if all those people who plan & produce entertainments could possibly bear in mind that dry ice, Haze™ and all other known forms of chemical smoke can actually be triggers for asthma, and if they would just, well, stop it, then I might come slightly less close to dying once or twice a season*. Which would, as I say, be nice.

*'Specially as I'm a stubborn idiot who tends to stay in there wheezing and getting worse, rather than leave the gig before it's over.

Yes,
Particularly as they are usually quite assiduous about flashing lights, which can trigger epileptic fits, why can't they get this one right?

Though if you are going to live dangerously, have you thought about making a will?

I'm *not* asthmatic and I still find that stuff pretty unpleasant. I hate to think what it's doing to the actors.

Ah, that old nut cropping up again... Having worked in theatre for over 15 years (and as a health and safety rep) we used to get this 'symptom' at a fair range of shows. The dry ice and haze smoke are water based and C.O.S.H.H. issue guidelines for their use. To quote: "This product has no acute inhalation hazard". This is why, unlike strobes/lighting FX, you will not see any warnings. A rep once told me: "Psychosomatic mate. See smoke. Cough."

Nah, "Breathe smoke. Wheeze. Feel chest tighten, lungs seize up. Turn blue." Doesn't matter if it's psychosomatic or what, the stuff is still a trigger and the symptoms are genuine. The colour is attested to. It is absolutely an acute inhalation hazard: I be in a room with it, I stop breathing. That is acute, inhalational and hazardous, all three.
