- and mirabile dictu, these last few pages have been fuelled by pumpkin seeds to go with the wine, rather than my usual animal-fat products. This is, to be honest, almost entirely because I forgot to make another batch of pork scratchings today, and it does need all day to do it properly. Also, I do need to confess that this last half-hour, I have been sitting here thinking that, y'know, pumpkin seeds would probably be vastly improved by the addition of a little crispy bacon. But still! Pumpkin seeds! How healthy am I?

(Also, we were neither of us entirely sure at first, but I think we've established that, yes, Mac does indeed like pumpkin seeds. Tho' he too would probably prefer them with a little bacon.)

Whoo, yeah. I have perfected the technique, and they are fabulous.

Also, I was doggy-walking with a GP friend last week (yes, and his dog), and telling him about the process and how these were a regular workday snack for me now, and he said, "Chaz, you are so going to die."
