Not a false alarm, but an unexpected happy outcome: the lost ear-stud has been discovered, on Bryan Talbot's bathroom floor. The butterfly-clip from the back is missing, but hey. That I am sure can be replaced.

Thanks for all your concerns and suggestions: not needed after all, but not wasted either. You made me feel warm, in a chilly time.

My story 'Going the Jerusalem Mile' has been picked up for a Mexican anthology. Cool. I've never been translated into Spanish before...

Missed you

Pfui: I was in the bath, and someone knocked on the door. Twice. Second time, I did get out, but they'd gone before I got downstairs. I hate when that happens. 'Specially as my friends no longer socialise casually at this time of night; if it was a friend, it was almost certainly not casual. I sit here envisioning someone I care for wandering the streets in anxiety or distress, when they could be here and warm with coffee and comfort. And cat.

Mind you, I do envision these scenarios far too often. Like, constantly. With actions and dialogue and all. Worst-case scenarios, usually. It's no way to live.
