Serendipity
Jun. 1st, 2007 06:17 pmI don't, of course, believe in omens, good or otherwise; but I do enjoy coincidence. Which makes me happy today, because this was the day designated for my serious assault on the new novel to begin, and this was also the day on which the contracts for said novel arrived from America. It seems fitting, somehow.
It also, of course, slightly buggered up my day, because said contracts had to be taken to the library and photocopied and such; but hey, it only took an hour or so out of my day.
One reason for starting today, June 1, apart from neatness: I have signed up with
matociquala's
novel_in_90, just to try to ensure I get a good run at it. I like targets, metrics, all of that. I've counted my own pages all my professional life, but public metrics are better. So I'll be posting daily wordcounts over there; this seems to me ideal, because it keeps the public nature, the self-exposure, without exposing general readers to the tedium of numbers. I'll probably still give you a weekly progress report over here, just to make sure you're in touch.
One drawback of starting today, I suddenly realise: I forgot about the farmers' market. And that after carefully reminding
mizkit about hers. Sigh...
