Caution: appearances! Deception!

There was a cob of fresh corn in my veggie bag this week. Just the one, and rather small: so I thought I would experiment with corn chowder.

And hunted up a recipe on the internets and was seduced - as so often, and in so many ways! - by a fine list of ingredients and a confident manner. Sigh.

I should have enquired more closely into its character method. Halfway through, I suddenly noticed where it says: "remove bacon strip".

I'm sorry? Remove bacon strip?

Nearly another chapter; for lo, these chapters bifurcate like bacteria, divide only to grow and so divide again. I could be here a long time.

Also, just in case any of you were wondering, and I know you were: yup, Mac does indeed like fresh raw corn. Oh, and broccoli. Nom-nom-nom.

Can I take time out to watch Star Wars on the TV? Do I want to? I'm uncertain. Perhaps I'll give it five minutes...
