William Shakespeare

Life's but a walking desperance.

Which work of Shakespeare was the original quote from?

- which is hardly hard to place or to correct, just don't do it in a theatre; but the joy of it, of course, is its pertinence. I am in fact the Man Who Walks. Or takes a train when necessary, but mostly Walks.

...why do I keep cats again?

I was all set to finish my chapter this evening, in a blaze of wine-fuelled snacked-up death-or-glory writing.

Only I was in the kitchen for half an hour, preparing said snacks - and in those thirty minutes, Mac fussed around the litter tray four times, and crouched to pee, and didn't.

So onto the bus and off to the vet we went, for the routine probably-cystitis diagnosis; and there went my working. We are now home again, and Mac is locked in bathroom-purdah until he produces a urine sample to double-check for crystals. Weirdly, Barry is trying to tunnel in and rescue him, despite spending most of his days trying to avoid him.

And this has cost me not only fifty quid but also a couple of hours' work, and I can't afford either. Snarl.
