Some days, I think about food just all the time. Most days, I have decided what I will eat for lunch and dinner before I leave the house in the morning, though that may change according to what I come home with.

Today? Um. I am in the middle of a writing jag, and some days I don't get out of the house. Today, it hit me as I was feeding the cats tonight, I had no idea what I was feeding myself.

When in doubt, boil rice. (I think I've mentioned before, that it is my carb-of-choice: if I could only keep one out of wheat and rice and potatoes, it would be rice every time. This makes it also my fallback position, dinner-wise.)

By the time that was done and drained and set to cool before frying, I had located pork in the freezer, and fresh broad beans in the veg box. With onions and chilli and garlic, perhaps an egg, I reckon I can make a feast fit for a Chaz.

Or at least I could, until I boiled the broad beans and carelessly left them to cool in the sieve before I double-depodded them. I should have known better. You guys know better, and you don't even live with the vegetable-stealing fiend...

Hey-ho. All is not lost; there are frozen broad beans in the freezer. Dinner will be, um, late. I'm going back to work...
