I went out earlier, when it actually wasn't snowing, and it was so cold my head hurt. Kinda like an ice-cream headache, but inverted: working from the outside in. Did not like.

More than a foot out there now; I nearly lost my ruler.

Even so, we had fifty or sixty people struggled through to the Lit & Phil last night, for ghost stories. Was good. And the good thing about depths of fresh snow? They kind of hold me up. I didn't come near falling over, yay.

The bad thing about public readings? Apparently that - my Public Reading pose - is exactly awful for me, in physical terms. I hurt, all the way through, and I think it showed.

I have an alternating-medication regime - ibuprofen, paracetamol, codeine, rinse and repeat - to get around the daily limits on any one of 'em, and I've swallowed so many pills in this process my arm ought to rattle by now.

Never mind. I have a use for Half-Emperor Cyrrhenius! Not with that beginning, as it happens - I shall save that for the collection of Cyrrhenic stories, as a framing device - but still. Steampunked at last.
