Reviews are coming in for Hidden Cities by Daniel Fox, and so far they've all been sweethearts. The latest is from Booklist, and I can't cite the whole because it isn't out yet, but here's the money shot:

The multitude of characters move in a complicated dance, coming together or falling away according to their shifting loyalties and personal ambitions. Fox’s quiet prose is filled with startling, beautiful imagery, and even the smallest moment has import. Fans of the trilogy will not be disappointed.

Karen's been in a car smash, on her way back to work after lunch.

She's fine, and so are the other two people who crunched into her (Someone Else's Fault, absolutely: she was stationary at the time, at a stop-light), but the car's all buckled and grindy.

She's on the phone to her insurance people; I am being reminded that what hits one half of a twosome hits the other too. Even if they're not actually in the car at the time.
