No, I'm serious. I should do more travelling, esp by train. I wrote 2.5K on the way down to Cambridge last week, and 3.5K on the way home from Oxford yesterday. When did I last score such numbers? If I'd spent the same time in the Lit & Phil, I'd have done half that (due to distractions, conversations, newspapers & internet); at home, it might have been a quarter (internet and cats, largely). If I get on a train and don't get out a book, though, just open up the baby laptop and begin, I just keep going. It are good.

Oh, and a bottle of wine also helps.

I should probably go somewhere this weekend. Just on a round trip, just to keep moving. "Keep the Aspidochelone Floating" is currently at 8K and we've barely met the turtle; it's going to be a novelette at least, if not a whole novella by the time anything starts actually happening. Well: gay pirates, whale hunt, giant turtle so far, but I've no idea what the theme is, what it all means, what it's about. It can't just be a romance, surely...?

Also I need to write a ghost story by Thursday.

I do actually have a bad feeling that I'm double-booked today. I know one thing I'm meant to do, and I rather think there was another that I've forgotten - but right now I fear I might miss them both. Pressures of work. Whatever happens, I need to sort the aspidochelone this weekend, if I'm to have a story ready for Phantoms on Thurs. And then there's, um, a novel to be written before the end of September and it's nearly August now. Eek.
