So last night my nice ergonomic keyboard was misbehaving, doing Weird Alternative Things. I was too tired & emotional to diagnose its problem, so I just plugged in the nasty original flat keyboard and closed everything out.

This morning? Ergo seemed okay, but I was only here for an hour before I went downtown with the Laptop of Utterable Delights and worked in the Bean Scene half the day.

Came home to a repeat of Weird Keyboarditis. Which I figured out to be a control-lock issue: every keystroke was interpreted as Ctrl-keystroke. With what results you may imagine.

As far as I'm aware, Ubuntu does not in fact have a control-lock combo. If it does, please don't tell me; you are fifty dollars too late.

I had hoped, planned, intended to work more on my story this afternoon-shading-into-evening, because a thousand words is a good start but really not enough for a day's work. But the keyboard shenanigans kinda put the kybosh on that, because I am ludicrously susceptible; and tonight is yogi night, and though I am mostly feeding them leftovers there is still cooking to be done, and kale to be harvested, and and and.

And although it was her birthday weekend, m'lovely wife bought me presents. I went down to the farmers' market in a Save Sriracha! T-shirt - which came with the Sriracha cookbook. Which includes a recipe for homemade sriracha: which calls for red jalapenos, but that's just ridiculous because they're nowhere near hot enough to be worth eating, so I was going to experiment with habaneros and manzanos instead; but I went into the Indian grocery store this morning, and they sold me a pound of ripening Thai chillies for a dollar:

So I am going to use those. And fresh garlic rather than this stuff they speak of called "garlic powder", and we shall see what results. Check back in a week.

Also, I am baking baguettes for the first time. If they come out well, I may post photos and braggage. If silence ensues, you may simply assume that I will be baking baguettes for a second time, somewhere down the line, with a different recipe or technique.
