Okay, this place sounds truly weird and I would quite like to go there - but I am riled by sloppy journalism none the less.

"they are linked by hundreds of metres of richly decorated tunnels and occupy almost 300,000 cubic feet - Big Ben is 15,000 cubic feet"

'Scuse me?

(a) as any fule kno, Big Ben is the bell, and not the clock tower; and

(b) even if they'd said the clock tower, since when has the clock tower at the Palace of Westminster been a common or indeed a useful measurement of volume? I have no concept of how big the damn thing is, inside or out. I know kinda how tall it is, but that's not what we're talking about here...

Oh, my.

You're right, it's a stupid comparison. Why not compare it to the extent of the Underground System, or a famous cave, or the Roman catacombs or something of the sort? Because people have some idea of how big they think those subterranean things are.

But goodness, those pictures are amazing.

You once slept through a fascinating talk about Damanhur (and Jackie Chan and Anne of Green Gables) by Ken Campbell.
