I must have marrow on the mind. First, the chutney; now the bones.

I have come home from the market with a bagful of bones. Which I shall roast hotly, scoop out the marrow and spread it on toast, eat with a parsley salad. Nom-nom-nom. Then the roasted bones will go into the stockpot with veggies for a long slow simmer; then tomorrow I'll poach a brisket in the liquor. Which will leave me with broth for soup and beef for sammiches. For which I have just harvested a big fat horseradish-root out of the back yard. Did I mention nom-nom-nom?

Times like this, I may be squatting in the bottom of a deep horrid hole, but the food down here is fabulous. I just wish I ate more; I can't keep up with my own cooking.

And after dinner, you can use the bones for divination.

Ooh, what would you call that - osomancy? (I once had the URL for a fabulous list of words-for-methods-of-divination; some of the methods were almost more obscure than their words...)

But I don't need divining skills to divine what will happen to the bones after dinner. They will be seized and dragged away to obscure corners, and gnawed upon. For days.

That might have been the very one. And I note that astragalomancy is divination by means of the ankle-bones of sheep. Alas, I has none of those: and am not reading further, on account of green writing on busy pink background. Ewww. What were they thinking?

Yup. I'm still looking for him. (Tho' it has to be said, I have no housekeeping skillz. I did clean a little of the paintwork just now - but judging by the colour of the water and the sudden startling brightness of the wall, that might've been the first time that I've done it.)
