Either I left the fridge door open last night (which is, let's face it, unlikely) or else the magic lure of sossidge! pulled some brains into my boys, at their time of need; for lo, I came down this morning to find the fridge indeed open, and a half-nommed string of sossidges! hanging out of it as if it were a Punch and Judy booth waiting for its crocodile.

And I had been so pleased with them before, because they slept within touching-distance for hours on the bed last night, without either Mac pouncing or Barry running away. Then they disappeared in the early morn: to arrange their own breakfast, apparently, as I was conspicuously not getting up yet. Self-catering cats. I should've known there was mischief apaw...

This is why I love cats, because they prove that evil can be cute and fuzzy, too. Perhaps their lack of fighting was actually them colluding while you slept?

Still, gotta give them their props. It's not easy opening a fridge door without opposable thumbs.

We had to switch the door around on one of our freezers because our German Shepherd worked out how to open the door, but not how to pull the trays out.

The trouble is, it would start to defrost the contents (thankfully, with the trays flush, not too quickly), but we could eventually lose all the food and the damn dog wouldn't even have benefited from her ingenuity.

We have to block the pet food cupboard off with a box; otherwise the cat will open (in the day / in the night - she doesn't care) and help herself to whatever's open. Cat food / dog food.
We have 3 border collies and one cat, but if we feed the dogs first and don't feed China quickly enough after that she'll try to eat their food. And they'll move out of the way and let her. They just look all persecuted at the two-leggers for not putting her in her place!
