My second SF short story for Nature magazine, When Johnny Comes Marching Home, was published back at the beginning of July. Apparently.

Alas, they neglected to tell me, or send me a contributor's copy. Or a cheque.

We are in pursuit.

In the meantime, if anyone would like a pdf of the story as it appeared, just let me know. As it's way too late to get hold of the magazine...

In other news: it's three o'clock in the afternoon, and I haven't had lunch yet. How did that happen? (Oh yes, I've been working...)

*starves*

I'd love to read it. Do you think maybe you could link a .pdf as a LJ entry?

Good luck with the cheque chase!

Um. Can't think how to do that, unless it were already up on a website somewhere. Or am I being dim...?

No. :) I'm just wibbling with ideas in hopes of being able to read it myself, and letting others have the chance too, if you're prepared to share to all of us here.

Can you save a .pdf to your scrapbook, like image files? And if not a .pdf, then maybe the story as a .tiff or similar? *hopefully*

Send me an e-dress, and I'll mail it to you. No bother. Meanwhile:

I don't know. Can I? I can try, at least...

Thank you!

Email is morgainex AT gmail DOT com.

I'm going to experiment with the floated idea later (at work now; might be frowned upon :) and will let you know if I can get it to work. Assuming some tech wizard doesn't come in with an Actual Answer to my mooting in the meantime...

Isn't this why you keep a webmistress?

I think Nature have exclusive rights for six months, after which it's yours to do with as you wish, no? So why not ask her upload it to your website and then link to it from your LJ? Or am I being dim?

And presuming you have the original text as a Word document or similar, it could be rendered as a web page.

There ought to be a sister magazine called "Nurture", just to show balance.

Ye-es - but you know I don't always like to ask. And I'm not sure what the legal position is, in re Nature's pdfs - rights in the text revert to me, but certainly not rights in their illustrations etc. At the very least, I'd have to get their permission before we could upload them to my site. (And yes, I know that the same inhibition should prevent me from sharing even one-to-one; and yet it does not. Pffft, I say. They neglected to pay me; I neglect the niceties of the law. But not the nastities...)

Posting the actual stories as web pages I think should be fine. I think we should probably do that. I will speak to Jean...

When and if you do, you can also put a link to it over there in the sidebar of your LJ, probably. Go to mine and look. Your template may not support it, but it might.

Ooh, a new Chaz story. Yes, please!

Speaking of reprinting Chaz stories, did you get my email?

It's on the way. Both the Nature stories, indeed.

And yes indeed, and thank you very much. Again. See subsequent post: it's official, and you can go as public as I have...
