Status: draft!
Dec. 20th, 2008 10:10 amDone, done. Dunnety-dun-dun done.
I don't have an exact count for Zokutou, on account of the wordcount file - and most of the words - are still on the dead computer, which is still dead. (Yes, yes, I have back-up copies of the words; but not on this machine.) It's something on the close order of 160,000 words, though, which gives me a comfortable margin to cut when my agent asks me to. Which she will.
I have, of course, no idea whether the book is any good at all; I suspect not. I'll probably put off reading it till after Xmas, because there is surely no hurry now. I've missed all the deadlines that mattered, like reaching this point by the end of November so's I could have it in agents' hands before the holidays. Which being true, I shall perhaps have a little holiday myself. I could clean the house, f'rexample. Or have a party, maybe. Or sort the office out. Or...
Whatever, really. Right now, I'm going to make two pints of coffee and read a book that is nothing whatsoever to do with this one.
