Why I have a book, and you don't...
Jan. 12th, 2009 06:00 pmUm. Technically, I suppose this is a good thing? At least, I keep telling Dan so.
But.
Those of you who have pre-ordered Daniel Fox's Dragon in Chains from Amazon UK - note, this applies only in the UK - will not be seeing it any time soon. Del Rey is apparently still hoping to sell the book to a UK publisher for an authentic British edition (which is what makes this a good thing, that they think there's still a decent chance of that), and therefore they won't be supplying their own edition to Amazon UK, in order not to queer the pitch for this hypothetical UK publisher.
Whether other UK retailers or indie specialist dealers will be able to get hold of copies, we are not clear. The couple that we've checked so far do not have the book listed.
Um. Don't know what to suggest, really. I may import a boxful myself - but I did that with the Ace books, and I still have large quantities of hardbacks sitting around in the house here. So maybe not.
I may have something more useful to say soonish; just now, I'm still trying to get my head around it. Daniel is just clutching his, and moaning gently.
And no, I'm not going to post a photo of his book, which arrived just moments ahead of this news; that would be mean. I am not mean. No, sir...

Date: 2009-01-12 07:24 pm (UTC)Should I link to this, given that a couple of people appear to have ordered it via the Amazon UK link I gave in my review?

Date: 2009-01-12 07:32 pm (UTC)We can of course order it from amazon.com, but there's a price penalty inevitably, and a time penalty too...
