Every time I go to stay with la_marquise_de_, I come back wanting to study Chinese again. This is partly because they make me watch films with Chinese subtitles, the brutes, and I can just pick out enough characters to frustrate me; and partly because she can actually talk Chinese to me, and I can't remember enough to talk back to her. But my teacher's dead, so it would have to be independent study: which I might keep up for a while, but I worry that it would eat into writing-time. No, I'm sure it would eat into writing-time, because I'd do it - of course! - at the Lit & Phil, where otherwise I would be writing. *sighs*

The boys are glad to see me back, I think. Barry sat on me last night, upstairs and down; this morning he sat on me in bed, which he doesn't tend to do. Mac has bounced a lot, and slithered under the duvet for extended cuddles this morning.

Also, just to reassure me that nothing much has changed, after I'd stripped off the tough and yellowing leaves from the outside of the cabbage last night he stole one off the chopping-board and chewed on it very happily on the kitchen floor. I have photos.

This is why I've not been to Chinese class in a while because, yes, it does do precisely that. I've not come up with a workable solution to it, either.

There are so many resources out there for Chinese though, and you could maybe make it "Tuesday evening between 7 and 9 is "chinese class"", for yourself, even though you're not actually attending a class, then you could have an hour of learning and an hour of review or something..
