In which I am dim, but mighty

desperanceI do realise that this will come as a terrible shock to those of you who think of me as a kind of Bertie Wooster substitute, amusing enough in my place but utterly useless in the real world: but my superpowers include not only the ability to shop for a cheap but pleasant toilet-seat, but also the ability to fit it.

Unfortunately, having lost the entire morning to a physio appointment (I have to allow forty-five minutes each way, plus half an hour for the appointment itself: whoosh, there goes the morning)[also, physio is of opinion that perpetual headache is very likely associated with neck flare-up: with which opinion I am pleased to concur, 'specially as it's worst when I'm sitting here at the machine, like right now...], I was halfway into town for the above shopping purpose when I realised/remembered - d'oh! - that the whole point of having featherlight typeware is to take it with me, so that I can be in town and stop at a cafe and work for an hour with no notice, actually get something done mid-shop...
Sigh.
Too late now. And having failed to do anything sensible workwise all day, I'm not about to begin. Instead I'm going to drink this here bottle of wine, in tribute to my DIY skillz, and play with writing things and not think of them as work at all. And then I'm going to use the last inch of wine when I get there to make a chicken-and-mushroom-and-fennel risotto, and eat it in front of a stupid movie if I can find one and a good one if I--
Whoops. Interrupted by a phone-call, there. Cancel much of the above: I may be going out, for drinks and/or dinner.
Nevertheless. I shall drink wine anyway, and play until these important matters are decided.
