Tuesday round-up
Oct. 31st, 2006 11:19 amThis, on the other hand, is a surprise. Three days ago, I thought I was broken. It was Saturday, better half of the week behind me, and I'd only written 4000 words since the last round-up. Granted that I had also finished and posted off the copy-edit, and granted that I had also been away Thursday into Friday, and even so; I really did think I'd broken.
Happily, I had a good weekend and a better Monday, and even this morning has been good. Still not up to peak flow (a very potent term, to those of us with asthma and more doctors' appointments today), but I am not disgraced:
Or, on the simple page-count:
I suppose I should swap them to a different colour, now that we're over-budget, but nah.
I had hoped to finish by the end of this month; that's twelve hours away now, and again, nah. On the other hand, being so decidedly over-budget on both counts, I have at least exceeded expectations on the supply side.
On the other other hand, I still have to write one confrontation and another confrontation and a resolution and a twist; we could go a long way over budget, longer even than I'd budgeted for. Thing is, all this week's words weren't in the budget. It's that thing about not hanging a gun on the wall unless you mean to use it; here I am, novel with a river running through it, got to do something with the river, haven't I? So our journey has been enlivened with an Exciting Adventure on the Water; I have broken a lock, and told the appalling truth about Morris-men.
David, are you finished yet?
