So this morning I finished checking the proofs of the mass market pbk of "Bridge of Dreams". Guess what arrived this afternoon? Yup. Proofs of the hardback of "River of the World". There are obviously advantages in going straight from one to the other (and in that order, thank God), because it gives me a better chance of spotting inconsistencies between the two - but oh, lordie, I would have liked a break. If nothing else, I do have other equally urgent things to do, y'know? There is a new book that needs revising before it can go forth and find itself a publisher; there are short stories with deadlines looming. There's a cat, who lives in a house, and both these require attention. Also, rumour has it, there is a world beyond the house, that might merit a little investigation...

Urgh.
