desperanceHeh. Every now and then someone asks me if the Ben Macallan books (Desdaemona et seq) are YA. I'm usually a little evasive, in that sense that says "Well, technically not, not as such - but your adolescent reader ought to love it. Determinedly teenage rebellious narrator, kick-ass girl with more agency than you'd dare shake a stick at, motorbikes and leathers and monsters and violence and no time to draw breath, what's not to love?"
Ahem. I just wrote a frantic sex scene for the sequel, enacted on the rug 'cos neither of them has time or patience enough to get through to the bedroom. It may be Not Safe For Adults, but hell yes, this is YA absolutely as it ought to be.
