Yet one more of these gorgeous hot and sunny days - hellbelow, will this nightmare never end? It's as if the very weather conspired to make me happy! - and I am sitting here with a glass of Old Rasputin Imperial Stout and a tapas-plate of chicken livers and bread fried in bacon grease, working unhurriedly on Human Engines while I wait for my wife to come home. In the meantime, I have roasted some chopped apple in sugar and cinnamon and set a slow dough to rise overnight. Come morning, I will combine them - with some pecans, mayhap - and bake a bread of it.
