It was of course quite clear to me and everybody that there was no way I was going to declod a hundred square feet of clay-and-turf by hand. No way in the world, I'm far too idle. I'd just dig it over and break it up a bit and rely on Mother Nature to break down the evil creep-grass and the dandelions and...

Apparently I'm declodding by hand. Breaking clods up with my new garden fork and then having at them with my fingers, taking off as much sticky clay soil as I can and tossing the grass and roots into black plastic bags, where they will hopefully eventually break down into something good and useful.

I may have done twenty square feets. May've done. It's going to take a while.
