Extremely, utterly and bafflingly. As bizarre as a bursar at a bazaar buying basalt for Bashar al-Assad. So bizarre it can be seen from space.

As it happens, I have myself wondered if gay marriage had implications for our notions of incest and/or the need for legislation (I have no idea whether the civil marriages that we have now were drawn up to exclude the same range of relatives that traditional marriage does) - but it never crossed my mind that one could engage in it for tax reasons. Suddenly Heinlein's line marriages seem to offer a whole new possibility...

(Which reminds me, in my orgy-queue of rereads I was just thinking that The Moon is a Harsh Mistress would probably be in line soon, only then all these Kipling books started showing up, so. I have new matter to read. And as it happens I spent most of today in the Palace Cafe working through Kipling on Mars, with and without the company of friends. They were working from home, or remotely, or whatever your preferred expression is; I was just working. Fifteen pages are now better than the previous fourteen were.)

(Also, the next reread may actually have to be a slew of Iain Banks, with or without the company of M. I am a sentimental soul, and it may just have to happen.)
