Links in the chain
Feb. 27th, 2007 10:27 pmIt's been one of those days, buzzy with ideas and no chance to write; but I was at the theatre this evening and walking home across the town moor after, I remembered that a friend had asked for limericks for his birthday. Which is license to do that thing I don't do any more, writing verse; so it ain't a limerick, it's more of a rant, but I came home with half of it solid in my head. Only, it's called 'Kingdom Come', which of course makes me think of the Band, and I'm only not humming because my head's so full of verse. So I get home and scrawl it down (no, no, not by hand, relax: I scrawled it here, it's perfectly legible, I swear...), and then I check my e-mail, and one of my spams is called 'slovenly plaintiff', which I love - for that little second before my mind goes "Oh - Unfaithful Servant!" and we're back with the band again.
A poem for Peter, to Kingdom Come, to the Band, to slovenly plaintiff, to Unfaithful Servant, to the Band. So it goes. Guess what I'm going to listen to now...?
