These trying days, we live off the little things. SF Signal's latest Mind Meld offers numerous writers' thoughts on LGBT themes, and Catherine Lundoff said, a propos a story of mine,

“In the Night Street Baths” is an atmospheric tale about two eunuchs wandering through a decaying city. It is, hands down, one of the most beautifully written stories in the genre.

Wasn't that nice? I'm hoping to include the story in a collection from Lethe Press. M'wife'n'gatekeeper isn't quite so certain, because she thinks you need to have read the novels that led to the story (that would be Bridge of Dreams and River of the World, since you ask - and yes, the story is exactly and entirely about Teo and Drago and what they get up to one of those vanishing nights, footloose in the city below). Perhaps this will persuade her otherwise...?

In other Lethe news, my novel The Garden may be resurrected reissued - in both hard and electronic copy - as soon as next month, if I get my act together. I've only just finished correcting the OCR scan, and already the proofs are back. Which is laudable, but unh. The books that matter most are the hardest to read, y'know? I need to write something fresh for the collection, and Karen is urging me towards something with cats, wherein the good end happily. I could really use a bit of fluff right now, it is true - but when did my mind ever turn that way? Besides, I have to write something for an epic fantasy anthology first, and what are the chances of that coming out fluffy...?
