...or just infirm; hard to say, really, but - whether or not I have an excuse, whether or not I'm actually ill - I lack all resolution. I was staying with a friend last night, and didn't get home till late morning; I'm seeing other people this evening; there are all these hours between, which I really ought to be filling with useful labour. Now above all, I should be constructively busy; I am a man much in need of a paying gig. And I am doing nothing, wimping my time away, pathetically waiting for someone to rescue me. Gah.

In other news: [livejournal.com profile] matociquala has an interesting post on brain-sidedness (which it occurs to me that I probably don't really need to say, since almost everyone who reads this must read her as well, but hey...), including a link to a quick test that will tell you whether your own brain is left- or right-handed. So I did that, and my brain is 100% entirely left-sided. Apparently the right side might as well not be there. Which is odd. I wonder if it might have come out differently if I weren't feeling so grim & depressed: if influence shifts with mood (or indeed mood with influence)?

In other other news: Barry had a second Christmas last week. A little delayed, due to the package criss-crossing the Atlantic, there and back and there again; but [livejournal.com profile] devonellington and [livejournal.com profile] costumeimp sent him toys!! Which are the Best! Toys! Ever!! And they came in a stocking, which he loves even more than the toys!!! It is his obscure object of desire, and it goes everywhere with him. He drags it around like a Mighty Hunter dragging prey; every now and then he gives it a little shake, to make sure it's still dead; and then he sits on it. Mightily.

I'm just reading a psychology book on the two minds subject after being sucked into the world of A Scanner Darkly.

Fascinating stuff!

Only the right side eh?

Sid had mousie until recently (yeah, a catnip mouse: a green floral thing with a pink fluffy tail with a bell on it. Best!Toy!Ever! - until my lodger's greyhound tore it to pieces). Since then Sid, clearly from sentiment, has been glued to the catnip-flavoured patch of carpet, although I did vaccuum.

>and then he sits on it. Mightily.

Like the Groke (sp?) in the Moomintroll books, which occasionally sat on small creatures, and squashed them.

A year ago, my uncle gave me two organic catnip slugs. Apparently the catnip was much stronger than any catnip the cats had before. I finally hid them in the kitchen drawers after Grok curled around one, licking it for hours.

I'm glad you both finally got the package. Could it be the Barry has never before experienced Velvet?! Or perhaps he just smells the American cousins all over HIS things. I'm glad he's so enthralled by it. Not every kitty has a homemade stocking, must less a housekeeper who lets him drag it around in March!! :-)

Perhaps it will keep him distracted enough that you can apply the bitter apple in stealth...

Thanks for posting the link - I hadn't seen the post and it was fascinating. I am allegedly mostly right-brained and am left-handed. I am definitely right-eyed.

Snowy and Bob have rediscovered the virulent lime mouse recently - after ignoring it for several months. We need to see more photos of Barry...should you get the chance.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who occasionally drifts around failing to achieve anything, waiting to be rescued as you put it. Hope your will to do stuff returns strengthened after this brief rest.

I think he'd probably agree with you. Just, I don't use the camera much (as witness, its batteries have been flat for the last six months...), and I can't actually post photos to LJ anyway; every time I try, I just get a broken connection. I'm presuming this is a problem with my browser; the solution of course is to use a different browser, but I'm stubborn...

I'm delighted he's so happy with it.

And something wonderful, money-wise, will turn up for you soon. I can feel it!
