desperanceBook View Cafe has signed a hyooge deal with Audible, to produce spoken-word editions of our catalogue. That's pretty much our whole catalogue, at the time of signing: and with more to come. Hopefully, this is a relationship we will just keep rolling forward.
At the moment - not setting our sights too high, 'cos, y'know... - it means that the four titles I have up already at BVC as e-books will be recorded and released as audiobooks. That's Dead of Light, Light Errant, Dispossession and our new publication, my SF novel(la) Rotten Row.
As heretofore teasingly mentioned, there was a brief little window there where Spock's cousin Jeff Nimoy was contracted to read Dispossession, only then they decided to go with an English voice instead. Which I can't argue with on any level except, y'know, Spock's cousin...
The bad news is that I won't be reading any of 'em myself, this go-around. Which is a pity, because nobody reads me as well as I do, it's my own voice that I write for, always, the rhythms in my head; but - while there is technically an audition process that authors can go through - the only time I enquired about that, the whole deal evaporated and nothing was ever heard again, so no.
