It's not quite the most unlikely subject line ever. Not quite. People who know me will know that I do occasionally enjoy organising stuff, alphabetically or chronologically or whatever*. It's keeping them that way that I find hard; maintenance is essentially unstructural.
In some systems of order, however, I do have a good record even maintenancewise. When I put my spices into alphabetical order, people laughed at me* - but I kept them that way, on a daily basis, and I did find it extraordinarily useful.
Then I moved here, and left my spice-shelves behind; and for two years now I've been dealing with spices all out of order and kept half in a cupboard and half in a drawer, and having to pull everything out to find what I want. On a daily basis.
No longer! I have had a Notion: which is not perfect, because twenty-four is not actually enough, so I do still have spices in a drawer and herbs in a cupboard, in ways that make order impractical; but still.

Obviously, people should have more feet; then their over-the-door shoe racks would have more pockets, and I could put all my spices in 'em. Still. the first twenty-four, all alphabetical; this is way better than before. And I have more cupboard-space to put things in.
*When I built my wardrobe? I put all my t-shirts on hangars and hung them in monochromatic order, from deepest black to palest grey. People laughed at me, and I still don't understand why.)
**This seems to be a thing.
