You will remember, O my internets, that a bare day ago I reported on a broken fridge door-shelf and the swift ordering of a replacement. (I know, you have talked of nothing else since.)

Yay for the miracle of Fedex: the replacement arrived this morning, and fitting it took less time even than ordering it. And as today is otherwise dribbling to waste and nothing between my fingers, I have decided that the most use I can eke from it now is that I shall go through the entire fridge, discarding all that is foul and ancient and cleaning everything and reminding myself of what's good in there.

It's one of those decisions that I may or may not follow through on; so far I've just put back the top-shelf stuff that all cascaded out when the old one broke. Well, I've put back maybe half of it. What was foul and ancient is gone; so is - largely - what was unlabelled and unidentifiable. I think that should be a rule. If I can't work out by eye and nose what it is, I'm never actually going to use it, so it might as well not be there, right? (With - so far - one exception: there's a jar of some kind of picklish chutney-like substance. I don't quite know what it is, but it smells awesome, so that's staying.)

Perhaps I should inventory the fridge, as I did the freezers? That might keep me at it. Invoke my inner completist, and use the chance to figure out what I'm missing...

Meanwhile the cat is in the box, and all's well.

[EtA: also? While we are indulging in the realms of the obvious: if I can't open it, I can't eat it. *discards*]
